The confusing aspect to me is I will see YouTube videos from people using just an older iMac or other computer, with no interface or additional equipment, triggering VSTs with what I consider great results. Purchasing high-end gear is out of the question at this moment unfortunately. Just not sure what would give me my best chance. I would like to keep additional costs down as much as possible, from what I have read on this forum I can either try an interface such as a Behringer 204HD with the laptop, or a PCIe card into my desktop. Not quite sure though, my understanding of all this is pretty limited currently as far as what advantages an audio interface provides. Thinking it's because I'm using the module as an audio interface, routing the sound back from the computer through USB. Hard to explain but it just doesn't sound great.

Looking for a simple setup, just wanting to trigger one kit from either Reaper + Steven Slate 5.5 or Addictive Drums 2, will decide on a purchase once I get my setup completed and the demo working satisfactorily.
